Kilindi Iyi claims to have superpowers?!?!?! |
Lead | |
|
I heard from someone that knows Kilindi Iyi (who's name I won't mention) that he has obtained a drug/herb from the Zulu's that gives him psychic powers to communicate with the ancestors and float through walls and stuff. If this is true, then I just want to say this is another thing that the Kemetic Tofu Afrocentrists do to make themselves look great. Since many of them are drug addicts, they must find some form of romanticism to dress it up to make it look like some "secret kemetic spirituality." If you are a druggie than you are jus a druggie! Be real! Just say, "I do Kung Fu and I love to get high!" Don't come up with some Afrikan Crackhead Spider Monkey from Kemet Kung Fu style to justify it!

You see the uninformed , unproved bs that they put out with out any proof whatsover. So now Africans did not use various herbs/drugs in their practices? And you know for a fact that Kilindi does not have acess to this? Please, your envy is totally apparent.

"So now Africans did not use various herbs/drugs in their practices?"
All over africa, various herbs and advanced recipies are used for various purposes... mainly medicinal, but also spiritual. The Azande is an example of one group that uses it for what you could call "spiritual purposes" and the Zulu in which Iyi claims to have got his herbs. My envy? Envy of what? |

We envy his suade/kente cloth coolie outfit, of course. Look at him drive down the street in his funky, Yin/Yang covered pimp mobile. Gotta get one.

Re: Stay Away from Kilindi; He is a Fake | ||
|
This really disturbes me. To see so many "Warriors" participating in un-warrior like conduct, like slander, and back biteing.
It seems as if many of you don't know what the hell your talking about. I have been a student of kilindi Iyi since i was 13. meaning about 24 yrs. (What i have learned from him has saved my life on more then one occasion.) And in all that time i have never heard him make any of the claims that you people are speaking of. John, How do you know any of this? Were you there. Do you know kilindi, did you train whith him. have you gone to Africa whith him? were you there when he left in his early Twenties. have you been to his home to help take care of his dog, while he was over there. Oh, my bad dude, was that you sitting next to him at that big hoo ha they through out it hollywood for Wesly snipe's, you know, the one were they invited all of these masters from different arts to do demo's. Ohh, that wasn't you??? Hey That must have been you on the cover of inside Kung-fu back in the 90's, no??? well then surely that was you in black belt??? NO?? what about Spanish Black Belt??? NO again huh??? Well Jeee's dude, who knows you??? For your information and every one else's. Master Iyi has studied various asian arts and is indeed very talented, in that he can see something and know it. But he has never tried to pass them off as anything else. Does he teach Kali, Aikido,Tai chi?? YES !!! but he has never called them any thing but what they are . When you partook in one of these sessions, you knew it, and if you were in a AHa, nabuut, tchaa or impe class, you knew that too. ( but, you would have too actually be involved in the class for a while too know that.) If you ever really saw Aha, it looks nothing like jiu-jiutsu ( other then in locks,But what style does'nt look like the other in a lock/ ), or any thing else. If you really know what your looking at, and have more then a ruddementery knowledge of other styles. Not many novices know the difference between kara-te and gung-fu, right? Its only with study in one or the other that you learn the difference between how one style performs a punch or a stance and how the other does it, Right ?? How much time have you spent in either style? If you saw Nuba wrestling, I guess you'd say that they stole it from the sumo. Right ?? And how many ways are there to throw a kick? Is there a difference between the way a side kick looks in Krav-maga and the way it looks in tai-chi? Take the uniforms off and they look pretty much the same right. It takes someone with experiance to see that the entry in tai- chi, is totally different from the way some one in Krav-maga , might enter into it. Adaogun, what the hell does his car have to do whith a damned thing. A true follower of Ogun would'nt be so petty, and trivial. Warrior, NOT!!! And Great white. hwite belts don't know @#%$, which is why they usually know to keep there mouths shut. It's called respect for the thoughs have put the time in. How many instructors out there are not Ethniclly Akin to the arts they teach?? But it's o.k. if a white Guy teaches Tae Kwon do or Gung-fu and decorates his house in asian motiff , and goes around bowing to every one like a gimp Right. But let a african american Teach his ancestoral art and he's a pimp. YOU guys really are a dissapointment, to your selves, your teachers and your styles. You should all give up now, cause if you keep going the way you are, your just going to become worst dissapointments then you are now. Kilindi has tried to help and incourage the youth of this city, and to aid in the martial development of all styles, by sponsoring and bringing in teachers of different systems to share their knowledge. People like Dennis Newsome, Mussa Powell, Dan Inosanto,Cliff Stewart and others like Wayne Chandler( who is not only a martial artist but a historical researcher of great note.) All of these people hold Kilindi in the Highest regard and call him Friend. Something i'm sure not many of you can't claim. Mantis, You sound like a raceist or a really big ass hole, dude. how do you know we're all druggies. Do you know us all. And whats wrong with being proud of your culture and heritage. If more young blacks were, then there woul'nt be some many gangs and car jackings. Because a true afrocentrist would neve lower himself to such a demeaning state. And arent there just as many people of other nationalities in prison and useing dope.( watched Cops lately Bro?) As far as mystic powers. I've never heard him claim to possess any such powers. Has he talked about them?? Yes !! But always from a historical sence, why ?? because it's a part of the art and culture of the African continent. ANd what culture does not have such things, as a part of there history and Martial tradition??? What is bagua about, and what was excalibur all about. Ohhh, that right everones culture desrves respect, but ours. The Herbs that you are speaking of, are intended to aid in the meditation process and help to open and condition the third eye, and give the nsangoma the abuility to see, what others can't. There are similar herbs and even stones used in the filipines and indonesia as well as all over africa. In India they use herbs to make a drink called soma, that does the same thing, many native tribes in south america have semilar herbs used to see the future, and have been proved quite accurate according to some anthropologist . But hey, you might've had to read a book or two, to know this stuff. and it helps if your not just some young guy or newbie, who doesnt know his @$$ from a hole in the ground. As far as Drugs. Kilindi does not use drugs nor does he drink. He is one of the most responsible people i have ever known, and deserves alot more then to be dogged by some clowns hideing over a computer. If you have a Question, ask the brother. By all means dissagree if you feel the need. But dont sit on a computer bashing someone who has done nothing but possitive for his people, by calling him a fake when you really don't know him or his history. As for his Pedigree. I have met 5 of his intructors over the years Two of them of the asian arts and three of the african , and although four of them are dead, they were very much real and very good at what they did. Kilindi has led a trip to Africa (Ghana & Gambia ) for years. ( but you'd have to actually study with him or know him to know this.) He does this so that those interested can study with actual warriors in africa. The trips gives people the chance to train and partake in the annual warrior festivals of those countries. Perhaps the best thing i can say about this man, is that in all the years i've known him, I've never heard him talk crap about any one else. NO matter how he may have felt about them. IF He thought they were good, he said so. But if he didn't know someone. (I mean sat with them, talked with them, debated with them. like a man, not a coward.) His answers were always the same. " I don't Know. " Or " idon't agree with this or that, but you can go train with 'em and see what you think." Which i did often. I spent alot of time going to other schools and seminars to see what they had to offer, and when i returned i was always welcome. The man never spoke bad about another person(something called humility, something a warrior is supposed to have, right?) , Their style or what they were doing.(and he didnt allow us to do so either, in his pressence.) Not even to try and make himself look good. He would tell us all, to learn all we could from every source we could. He'd say that if we ever learned all we could from him or felt that something else suited us better to go study it( which some did.), but to keep studying and in the words of his friend and teacher Dan Inosanto, to absorb what is usefule . Thats integrity ( something some of you could learn.) That, i've learned is the mark of a true warrior, and a man. Lastly, about his name. No his parents did not name him Kilindi Iyi. But have'nt alot of conscious people change there name to honor there ancestors or reflect there new start in life. In fact is'nt that a African tradition, when one goes through an Initiation, like into the warriors guild to receive a new name, that speaks of who they are and what they are hoped to become. ( OHH yeah, you'd have to know something about africa, to know that too!!) Infact this tradition carried over into Capoiera. When you get baptized, your master gives you a new name. Or did you all think that mestre Cobrina's moma really named him the cobra, or mestre Gato's mom really name him the cat ?? WHo of you know's these guys Birth names. NONE!!! because these masters have adopted their Nombre de batia (battle name) completely . Very few of them use their birth name anymore. Now go tell them there stuff is fake, cause they were born Carlos instead of coboquinio. i commend you cats for starting this site, but you tear'n down the very thing your trying to create by bashin on brothers you don't know( and each other), brothers who have provided the very knowledge that your after. That includes Brother maasi and others. These guys were out here researching our history and the african arts before many of us were born or could talk, and they deserve some respect. Now thats not to say that i agree with a lot of what i've heard they do. But if i don't know about it. I don't comment. But i do know of what many of these brothers were trying to accomplish as far back as the 60's and 70's. Back when you could get your head bashed in by the cops for wearing a dashiki. SO they deserve a little respect on all of our parts. O.K. this is my final comment. It's funny to see someone make fun of kilindi's uniform. (which is a traditional warriors outfit all over africa, even to this day.) When all of us have or are running around wearing okinawan pajamas , under garments or chinese peasant clothes, calling it a uniform, "yeah, but that's o.k. right??" Hopefully some of you will consider this , and adjust accordingly. warriorship is supposed to bring honesty, humility, compassion, bravery, Integrity, brotherhood, love and peace. If thats not what this link is about then you should shut it down now(I notice no ones posted on this hole site in months, years. wonder why??? I appologize to those who happen appon this, that wern't part of it initially. I know i seem as if i'm ranting. But i was compelledto say something. Because i know even if he saw this crap. Kilindi would not. Thats the type of man he is. He would see this, as being beneath him, and a waste of time. But he has been like a father to me, and you deffend those you love. i came to this site looking for some new friends and brothers to exchange knowledge with, but what i found right out the gate was some dudes that if i met 'em in the ring it would be no holds bared. I hope that changes. Good luck to you all. Hotep. |

John, a warrior is much more then that. He doesnt seace to be a warrior when the battle is over or when he leaves the group. He is a warrior twentyfour seven. Hr remains so, because the prinicples that he uses to guide his life never leave him.
In the east of africa you have many warrior societies Where the men in the tribe are all warriors. ( massai, turkana, wadabe , kukuyu.) In the west , variouse tribes have warrior guilds, where certain men are chosen to hold the title of warrior. ( the dogon, the akan & afante, the yoruba) One thing they do hold in common, is that a warrior once initiated is always a warrior. because it is not a post, but a way of life. A life guided by principles.( honor, loyalty, compassion, respect, Descency and courage ) If i made the mistake of assumeing that you or anyone else who partook in this disscussion were warriors, I appologize. I see that i was mistaken. You dont clame to be a warrior, i believe you have made the right choice. I cant say who is or isnt a warrior in Kilindi's camp, that requires time spent with people that i just havent had. But i can say that if they are stiveing tword this goal, it is a worthy thing. As for them being african, What else could they be? African american is african, just born some place else. If you asked someone else about theyre ethnicity and they told you Italian, german, Indian or polish, you wouldnt tell them they were'nt ??? But for some reason when a black person says theyre african, thay have to be anything but. In detroit we have a african community, just as most major city's do. This community is made up of africans not only from africa, but of africans born all over the Diaspora ( southamerica, the carribean, and the U.S.). This community is bound together not only by skin color, but by a mutual respect for our culture and ancestry. And again, you don't tell the jewish community that they are not a community because they were'nt born in Israel , do you???? As for your other input, i don't know if your really this pompess or if your just being argumentative. But you should really make up your mind. Vee arnis, silat, Gung fu. Which is it ? And i find it strange that Guys like prof.Vee, Moses Powell and Dan Inosanto, could come to our school, Have Kilindi come to theyres, and not one of them ever said " Hey, Thats my Stuff your teaching !!!" Am i to believe, that these renound masters could'nt recognize a suppossed fraud, and you were able to figure it out. Come on dude !!! You've been listening to Kilindi's ludicrous claims for 20yrs, Huh ? and you just decided that he is isnt what he claims. Why on earth did it take you 20Yrs???? i know when i hear something that doesnt sit right, i'm out. Its over and it aint gonna take twenty years for me to decide that i don't wnat anything to do with that person or organization. Why did it take you so long, if this is how you felt. And if it didnt , why did you keep listening and accuireing tapes ??? Why did you go to Africa with the man??? cause i'm sure he doesnt just show up in your liveingroom saying "Hey john, dude, listen to this." Aha school in D.C. ??? As of this moment i am unaware of any School affiliated with ours in D.C. But i'll check on it as soon as i get a chance. I can say that, I have come across many people claiming to teach Aha, that have never studied the art. And as for the indian stuff, our school has never taught kalarpayat, gatka, silambam or any other indian art. Although i personally have sparred against guys that practiced gatka, and found it tobe interesting. As for the people, Diodorus: wrote that Sind or bharat (india) was a part of Egypt, which was considerd to be part of Ethiopia. Herodotus Wrote: That the people of rgyptians and the nubians had thick lips and broad noses, wooley hair and burnt skin. He also wrote that the indian tribe were of the same features as the ethiopians. Today, the Tamils of southern india claim through Theyre oral traditions to have come from a land called Khem-Tamar. ( kemit & tamarria ) maybe ?? In Orrisa provence There are three aboriginal tribes ( not of Aryan descent ). The Adivasis, the Sabra and the Sabarl, tribes. All are of Dravidian and Munda ancestry. many are not hindu, haveing theyre own religion that predates what we know as hinduism. Thyere language is Akadian in origin,( just like the majority of african dialects ) And through genetic test they have been shown to have a common ancestory whith many of the peoples of ethiopia, southern egypt and nubia. Oriental magazine?? you don't have to be on the cover Bro. You just have to know what your talking about !!! And you Don't??? And the question you didnt answer, Who are you???? All of the things i mentioned, kilindi has to his credit. And so does Inosanto ( who calls Kilindi friend ), As did Powell and Vee. These men also had the forum and the Audience to scream fraud, if that was what they thought. And to date, they havent. And again, how do you know any of this crap that your spewing. You don't !!! it's all conjecture on your part. You claim that "no egyptian has ever heard of Aha". How do you know this?? Have you met every Egyptian??? How could you possibley know what every egyptian knows or has heard of. I've met a few egyptians as well, and i never miss a chance to ask questions. What i've found is that some know what i'm talking about and some don't. " Have you ever heard of naboot?" NO ! You know the stick fighting. OHH, yes, but thats not a martial art ! thats cutural dancing." And i found the same about Aha. YOu just have to know how to ask. and even then you may have a problem. why, Cause most of the Arab speaking population, Does not speak ancient egytian. Duhhhhhh !!! Back in the Eighties ther wasa Professor Seleem. An egyptian. He lived in Texas or arizona. He was a anthropologist, a historian and a translator of mdw ntr( hieroglyhpics ). According to Seleem, the vast majority of egyptians today, are not egyptian. And that only 1-2% of the population are by blood and heritage of Egypt. He also stated that it is among this small number, that the culture of ancient egypt still lives,( although deluted in many cases ). It is among this number that people still call on the ancient Gods, prey to the sun and perform long gone rituals. It is among these people that you still find the warrior culture of ancient egypt, carried through brotherhoods and lodges to the current day. Mr. Seleem Also taught what he called tradional egyptian warrior arts. Unfortunately, i never got to meet him, but i did meet a student of his at a capoiera seminar in atlanta. According to him the art taught by prof. Seleem consisted of three aspects. 1. sesa 2. sobeka and 3.sobek ka aha. So although i've never met him, thats atleast one Egyptian who has heard of Aha, in one form or another. Black belt magazine did an article on him in the late eighties as well. My judgement is not clouded. And although my relationship to Kilindi has nothing to do with it, it is the point. I do know him, and i've had the opportunity, not just to watch him, but to meet, and watch others around him. To meet people who knew and trained with him before and after he went to Egypt, and to hear how impressed they were in sparring mathces with him apon his return. I've met some of his teachers, i've trained with some of them. I've been around master Vee, Mosses powell, and others in his presence and i've listened to them disscuss the arts. i've performed in demo's in N.Y., DET. and toronto. And i've had africans come to me and say that they'd seen this before, or that it's old and nobody does it any more where theyre from. Thats how i Know, and thats why i'm speaking. Not from conjecture, and speculation, but from years of history. So i'll say it again, you have uncovered nothing other then your own pettyness. Kilindi has never dressed up anything and called it something else. And i believe it is your objectivity that is clouded. You just don't like the man, and i can understand that.. If you've seen him drink, count your self lucky, cause in twenty four years, he's never had a drink with me or anyone else that i'm aware of. So where was this??? who was there?? what was the occassion. And p.s. bitters are a far cry from cocain, unless the FDA has changed it's guidelines. Now you called him ignorant. Thats your opinion, and your welcome to it. I did not miss mantis's point, he said that most afrocentrist are crack heads and looking for an excuse to get high. How do you miss the point on a statement, like that. And since most tofu eating afrocentrist are black, it sounds racist to me. or Assanine. You pick. For your info again, Mysticism and african warrior tradition do go hand in hand. Look at the story of oranmiyan, the story of the leopard warriors of sierra leone. the mau mau warriors with theyre talismans against bullets. Weather caused by herbal baths, consumption, or charms. mystical powers are a part of the history and tradition of the african warrior. And if you don't know this, you dont know what your talking about. You say there is no traditional warrior outfits in africa. Again you make this statement as if you are god, or have been top every corner of the continent and met every tribe. And learned every culture. So, once again, the outfit is called a Digoo. it is a tradional outfit worn by warriors and hunters in nigeria. the Olowo or chieftan wears a special one called an Orufanran. Simialer outfits are "TRADITIONALY" worn by warriors and hunters in Ghana, seirra leone, and mali. Go to the smithsonian, they got a couple hanging around, or hey try picking up a book or two and doing more then a casual glance. (Who's ignorant??) The third eye is not just an indian concept. The cobra that adorns the pharoahs crown represnts the same thing as the one around shiva's neck. Life and control over ones inner kundalini or sechem. Both represent inner strength. in the story of Ra, he takes his left eye out and sends it to learn all that her is to know. the Eye is gone so long, that by the time it returns, another eye has grown in its place. SO Ra takes the THIRD EYE and places it above his brow, he instantly received all the knowledge of humanity the universe and life. It also spit fire and could dertoy his enemies.( hmm, just like shiva ). Among the yoruba there is the belief in the Inu ori. The inner head. It is small, and pyriamidal in shape, and sits in the center of the brow or forehead. this inner head is how one contacts the spirit world and enables one to be possesed by the orisa. Every thing i said, regarding asia and africa was to show that among martial and warrior cultures and concepts there are many similarities, especially when it come to mysticism and herbology. That is why what other arts have matters. Again, people study Hsing yi, bagua, silat and kali. they go to the philipines and come back with majick rocks, they go to china and drink herbs to give them the iron coat, they go to indonesia and eread verses of the Q'uran while being bathed in herbs and drinking the same. And it's all good. But if a black guy says anything similer, he's a quak anda dope feind. You , have made unwarrented accusations, along with others here, and you say i'm making personal attacks. What you fail to realize is that when you insult kilindi in you i know so much attitude, you not only insult him ( a man i love and respect ) You insult thoese who taught him ( other men i respected and love). You stain theyre memory and all they tried to accomplish. And worst of all you stain the culture and history they come from and tried to keep alive. In the old days i would have been able to track you down and challenge you . But liveing in a CIVILIZED society, i'm forced to sit here and run across this drivell and have no recorse but to type out my complaints. You speak in absolutes, that can't possibly be absolute. You make declarations about things you obviousely know nothing of, and you speak ill against some one Behind there back. This is trully arrogant, assanine and cowardly. I maen i understand. you whnet all the way to africa and got the trotts. O.K., you hada bad time. But if you were stuck in your room, how do you know what you missed. You were in africa, and your a african wrestler. But you didnt take advantage of the place and the time and challenge this dude that offends you so?? You asked him questions and didnt like the way he answered you. He didnt take the time to talk to you, after you spent all that money and came all that way, and got the trotts and everything. Alright, be mad, say you don't like the dude, say he's rude, say you disagree with his philosophy and his teachings, even say that you think his claims are ludicrous. Just keep it real, state the facts, not conjecture, not Rumors, like a old woman, but the facts. And remember that just cause John thinks its ludicrous, doesnt make it so. Theres always some one around to call someone else's idea and beliefs ludicrous. ( colombus, davinci , einstein , evan Bruce lee.) so i guess Kilindi's in good company. Now, as i know i can not change your mind about anything. and the fact that no one else has been on here in 3yrs, and no one of any real character or credibuility has been around, and the fact that as you pointed out, theres no one here with a true warrior spirit. This will be my last post here. Take care, and good luck to you. I hope that all goes well in your studies. ANd that you find what your looking for. Hotep |
